Profile

Altris AB is a Swedish developer of sodium-ion battery technology, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Uppsala, having grown out of research at Uppsala University. It is one of Europe's leading sodium-ion companies.

The company's technology is built on a Prussian white cathode material and a proprietary electrolyte, using abundant, low-cost materials and emphasising safety, long cycle life and recyclability. Altris states its cells offer performance comparable to lithium iron phosphate (LFP) systems.

Altris makes pilot and reference cells in Sweden and is scaling cathode-material production, including work in the Czech Republic with partner Draslovka. It has attracted significant backing, including support from the Swedish Energy Agency, and is pursuing applications in stationary storage and low-voltage automotive markets.
