Exide Technologies

It is a separate company from Exide Industries of India.
Profile
Exide Technologies is one of the oldest names in the battery industry, with origins in the Electric Storage Battery Company founded by William Warren Gibbs in 1888. For much of the twentieth century Exide was a major global manufacturer of automotive and industrial lead-acid batteries.
Following financial restructuring, the group's operations were divided: its North American manufacturing and distribution passed to other owners, while Exide Technologies today, headquartered in Gennevilliers, France, comprises the businesses outside the US, Canada and India. It continues to manufacture automotive and industrial batteries for European and other markets.
The Exide brand also endures elsewhere through separately owned entities, reflecting the long and much-divided history of one of the industry's founding names.
