Profile

EnerSys is a global provider of stored-energy solutions for industrial applications. While its predecessor businesses have made industrial batteries for more than a century, the current company was formed in late 2000 through the acquisition of the reserve- and motive-power battery businesses of Japan's Yuasa Corporation in North and South America. It has since grown through acquisition, including Invensys's industrial battery businesses (2002) and FIAMM's motive-power business (2005).

The company manufactures motive-power batteries (for forklifts and material handling), reserve-power batteries (backup and UPS), and specialty batteries, plus chargers, power equipment, enclosures and aftermarket services. Its technologies span lead-acid, lithium-ion and thin-plate pure-lead (TPPL), under brands including PowerSafe, DataSafe, Hawker, Odyssey and NexSys.

EnerSys serves telecommunications, data centres, utilities, transportation, warehousing, aerospace and defence, security and medical sectors in more than 100 countries. It reports revenue of around $3.6 billion (FY2025) and roughly 10,000 employees. The president and CEO is Shawn O'Connell.
