BCI names its first NextGen Leaders

Battery Council International

Battery Council International has announced its inaugural NextGen Leadership Award: thirty rising figures from across the battery industry, chosen by their own peers.

Battery Council International, the trade body for the North American battery industry, has named the first recipients of its NextGen Leadership Award, a new recognition created with BEST Magazine to celebrate the people shaping the sector’s future.

Thirty made the first class, drawn from twenty organisations around the world and spanning manufacturing, technology and commercial roles. What gives the award its weight is how they got there: each was nominated by the colleagues and peers who work alongside them.

The list runs the length of the supply chain, from flow- and zinc-battery pioneers to lead-battery engineers, sustainability leads, safety standard-setters and commercial strategists, with names from East Penn, Clarios, EnerSys, Ecobat, Stryten, Hammond, GS Yuasa and Moura among many others.

It is a good thing to see, and overdue. Industries that only celebrate their veterans forget to name the people coming up behind them. This does the opposite, and lets their own peers do the choosing.

The full class will be recognised in person at BCI’s Committee Week in Philadelphia on 6 October.
