Profile

LG Energy Solution is one of the world's largest battery manufacturers and the West's preferred alternative to Chinese cell suppliers. Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, it was spun out of LG Chem as a dedicated battery company.

It supplies cells to every one of the top global automakers, including General Motors (through the Ultium Cells joint venture), Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Rivian, Tesla, Ford, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Renault. Its chemistries span NMC, NCMA and, increasingly, LFP and manganese-rich systems.

The company is a major player in both EV and energy-storage batteries, with manufacturing across Asia, North America and Europe, and is one of the three largest battery makers in the world.
